Salute from Sir Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor to Ozoigbondu Prince Arthur Eze
Prince Engr. Arthur Eze, fondly known as Ozoigbondu, is an outstanding figure in Nigerian business and philanthropy. While he may not be the richest man in Nigeria, he is undoubtedly the greatest giver, a true personification of selfless generosity. His influence extends far beyond his wealth, as his humanitarian impact has uplifted countless individuals and communities across Nigeria and beyond.
Philanthropy is the voluntary act of donating money, time, or skills to improve the welfare of others and drive positive social change. It is not measured by the size of one’s wealth but by the depth of one's compassion and the willingness to uplift others. Some of the world’s biggest philanthropists include Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, MacKenzie Scott, and George Soros. Yet, any global list of remarkable givers would be incomplete without mentioning Prince Arthur Eze. His dedication to charitable causes makes him Africa’s most impactful philanthropist, a true son of the continent whose generosity transcends ethnic, religious, and regional boundaries.
Prince Arthur Eze hails from a noble lineage. His elder brother, Igwe Robert Eze, is the monarch of Ukpo, a town in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State. As a prince of a royal family, Arthur Eze carries himself with grace, humility, and a deep-rooted commitment to serving humanity.
Beyond his noble heritage, he is a business magnate, billionaire, and energy executive, serving as the CEO of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, one of Africa’s largest privately-held oil exploration companies. His impact extends into education as the Pro-Chancellor of Peaceland University in Enugu State, where he continues to support academic growth and innovation.
Prince Arthur Eze has built critical infrastructure and funded life-changing projects across Nigeria and beyond. His philanthropic efforts are evident in various sectors, including education, healthcare, and religious institutions.
Nnamdi Azikiwe University Medical Research Unit: Established to advance medical research and improve healthcare delivery.
Scholarships: He has funded numerous scholarships for indigent students, ensuring access to quality education.
Standard Sickle Cell Clinic at Ukpo: Donated millions of naira to support people living with sickle cell disorder.
Primary Schools in South Sudan: Built schools in Yirol and Rumbek communities, demonstrating his Pan-African vision.
St. Stephen’s Anglican Deanery & Youth Development Center (Otuoke, Bayelsa State): Donated $12 million for its construction, benefiting the Ijaw people.
Church in Abagana: Contributed ₦20 million for musical instruments and renovations in 2015.
Oranto International Airport Hotel (Enugu): Commissioned to enhance hospitality and tourism.
Road Networks in Dunukofia: Connected Dunukofia to neighboring towns such as Abba, Awkuzu, Ifite-Dunu, and Abagana.
Overhead Bridge in Ebonyi State: Financed to improve transportation and economic activities.
Modernized Market in Ukpo: Upgraded to support local traders and boost commerce.
Boko Haram Insurgency Victims: Contributed to relief efforts.
2013 Flood Victims: Provided financial aid and relief materials.
COVID-19 Pandemic: Supported communities with essential supplies.
Despite his resolute commitment to the progress of Ana Igbo, Prince Arthur Eze has often expressed concerns over internal rivalry and envy among the Igbo people. He once lamented how some individuals would rather undermine their own than celebrate their success. He cited an instance where someone he invested over ₦12 billion in tried to seize his land—an unfortunate reflection of the "onye kwulu, ibe ya agbatuo ya" (one stands, another pulls him down) mentality that hampers Igbo unity and progress.
Nevertheless, Prince Eze remains committed to facilitating unity and development. His strong alliance with visionary leaders like Engr. Dr. Emeka Okwuosa exemplifies his desire for progress.
Prince Arthur Eze’s impact extends far beyond his oil empire. His generosity, vision, and leadership have left an indelible mark on Nigeria and Africa as a whole. His selfless giving, unfluctuating commitment to humanity, and relentless pursuit of progress set him apart as a light vessel of hope.
Ozoigbondu, we honor your sacrifices and dedication. May your legacy continue to inspire future generations, and may Ana Igbo be blessed with more leaders like you.
